I’ve been mining for a few hours and still cannot smelt anything.

Wow smelting removed

I looked up mining on wowhead but couldn’t find a thing about how to smelt. All I have in my professions panel is mining and mining journal, no smelting options.

Blacksmith does it, but many recipes require raw ore nowadays

Smelting isn’t a thing anymore for mining, for the past few expansions blacksmithing recipes either take the raw ores or a bar they can craft themselves from multiple ingredients.

You don’t smelt as such, but you DO make alloys using the elements you get!

Those and ore are used to craft now.
